It was cheaper than many places nearby, so the value seemed fair for what you pay. If all you need is a simple, no-frills place, it’s probably worth the cost. The room was basic and mediocre, with minimal furnishings and amenities, and the shower didn’t drain properly. There weren’t the comforts or little details you’d expect from a higher-end hotel. If those matter to you, you may want to stay elsewhere.

We had a lovely view of The Shard from our sixth-floor room. We could hear the railway tracks now and then, but they didn’t bother us. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and looked after our cases after checkout. The room’s air conditioning and heating were very welcome. The area is lively and well placed for central London. We walked back from Leicester Square in 40 minutes, which was a nice way to explore, and the tube was easy too. Southwark station is a three-minute walk away. Keep going past the hotel and Borough Market is about 15 minutes on foot. We’d definitely book again.
Nikita and her team handled our school group of 28 very professionally. Breakfast and the service were fine, but the lack of free WiFi was disappointing, especially with teenage students to keep occupied. Some bathrooms also looked a bit dated and could use a refresh.
The breakfast tasted good, but there wasn’t much variety. I’d seen fruit in the photo, but there was none, which felt misleading. The rooms were large, though the bathroom was so tiny I couldn’t even fit in the tub. The beds were awful and we slept badly for two days. The luggage room was filthy and more like a warehouse. What a waste of time. Nothing got cleaned in our rooms for five days, and the towels weren’t changed. The windows wouldn’t open, the air conditioning was noisy and didn’t work well, and you have to pay for WiFi. Stay away from this monstrosity.
There are two lifts, useful if you’ve got heavy or multiple bags, and an Uber can pull right up to the entrance for airport trips. The dining room is spacious; breakfast was average for the price, though the fruit bowl was the best part for me. The location is close to Southwark station, and keen walkers can reach quite a few sights over the nearby bridges, including Borough mkt, Shakespeare dome, Southbank, national theatre, blackfriars bridge and embankment. Rooms are a reasonable size and the beds are comfy, but the bathroom needs an upgrade. Its exhaust fan doesn’t work, leaving the room all fogged up. The windows can’t be opened either, so it felt a bit musty.
