City View Hotel Roman Road Market

After a full day out exploring London, it was easy to unwind in the clean, comfortable room, and I was surprised how quiet it was. The receptionist was lovely, always friendly and ready to help. I had a really pleasant stay and would gladly come back.

The place felt unsafe and unwelcoming all night, with arguments going on and insects and bugs in both our room and the lobby. When we first came in, reception was already arguing with a customer. The wallpaper was peeling, the carpet had black stains all over, the kitchen area had nothing in it, and cupboard doors had come off their hinges and been left aside. The website said parking was available, but there was none, so I had to park two miles away. What a joke of a hotel. Stay away at all costs.

It was filthy from the moment we walked in, with mouldy, smelly bathrooms and dirt throughout. The whole place felt unhygienic and unhealthy, and I think it should be shut down. We went to the shop to buy our own cleaning supplies and clean the room. Staff were rude and arrogant. We also had to ask for room spray, which they already had on hand, so they clearly expected guests to need it.

The room was small, but it worked for what I needed. It's a basic but nice little place, with a kettle in the room and a small fridge. There's a microwave and water cooler in the lobby. The area is lovely, with lots of shops around and more within walking distance. Staff are cheerful and always happy to chat.
