We were unsure at first about staying somewhere without a physical reception, but check-in turned out to be hassle-free. The virtual staff sent clear, detailed instructions, the electronic lock was easy to use, and they responded quickly and helpfully when we had questions. The room was clean and well maintained, with a kitchenette, microwave for simple meals, and a small dining table. It wasn’t very large, but the building had a charming London feel. Staff also took good care of our luggage after check-out. Cleveland Residences, Russell Square is in a convenient, safe-feeling spot near the Underground and the British Museum. Brunswick Square Gardens is nearby too, with supermarkets and plenty of places to eat. We’d definitely consider staying at Cleveland Residences again.
Having a kitchen made dinners much cheaper, since local supermarkets had lots of ready meals to choose from. The laundry was great too, with a washer and dryer that worked perfectly for our family trip. The accommodation was excellent and right in central London. It was easy to get to by bus or tube, the pre-check-in details were clear, and the host replied quickly to our questions.
The WhatsApp contact was brilliant. The staff were lovely, even though I didn't see them often, and they replied quickly. They messaged to say the room was ready before the 4pm check-in. After the 10am checkout, we could leave our bag in storage until 4.30pm. The room had loads of amenities and felt modern, with a self-catering setup and an upper-class vibe. The leafy area was lovely for walking to Covent Garden and was close to museums. Can't recommend this place enough.
There were free laundry facilities in the building, which was nice to have. The place was clean and modern, easy to find and get into, and in a quiet neighborhood near Russell Square tube station and the British Museum.
The only reason I'm taking off a star is the bed. After a week on that poor-quality mattress, our backs were feeling it. Memory foam would contour to the body better and last for years. The place had just been refurbished, and it was so clean you could eat off the floor.
