The staff were very kind and helpful, but the room was nothing like the photos. The walls were dirty and splashed with something, with mould and grime around the room. The sheets were dirty too, and the bathtub was badly worn and damaged. If the listing photos had shown the real condition, I wouldn’t have brought my children here.

My friend and I booked through booking.com. The room was neat and really clean, and the bed was comfortable enough for a great night’s sleep. I’d book here again if I’m in the area.

The Crystal hotel was a handy place to stay while my own home was being renovated, since I wanted to be near my job at the bus garage. I was there for five days. It’s a bit dated, but clean and comfortable for a short visit, and it was exceptionally quiet. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

There were no pillowcases, which gives you an idea of how basic this place is. Our room and the toilet room were clean, and the bathroom looked clean too, but it was in such poor condition that I couldn’t use either the shower or bath. If you have nowhere else, it does at least give you a place to rest your head.

We spent the worst 90 minutes of our lives here. The manager moved us between rooms several times, and every room we saw was covered in dust, thick as anything. The windows were smashed, and the place was so grim that wiping your feet on the way out felt necessary. I’ve seen cleaner, healthier crack dens. Absolutely gross. If you fancy bed bugs, scabies and severe chest allergies, this dive is for you. Hills Have Eyes has nothing on it.
