Cosway Serviced Apartments

Be careful. The landlord, Timothy James Roberts, rented me a room in a flatshare at this address, 18 Cosway street. I paid the deposit, but he never showed up or gave me the keys. It was a scam.

The kitchen and toilet areas are both pretty small. The bathroom fan seems to be a dummy, and there’s no bathroom radiator. The kitchen hob extractor and light don’t work properly. I’m not sure whether the landlord has been made aware.

We stayed in a clean two-bedroom apartment on the base floor, in a convenient location. The mattresses were comfortable, there was a big TV in the living room, and the kitchen was quite well equipped. The bathroom was spacious, with a large shower. There was also a little "prisoner's" courtyard, which was a nice touch. The owner stopped by quietly at 10 each morning to ask if everything was all right or if we needed anything. The Italian restaurant around the corner, across from Tesco, was wonderful. Italians made the pizza with Italian flour in a coal-fired oven. A few things I’d noticed in other reviews: you can hear the metro a little, but it’s distant and soothing, and didn’t disturb our sleep. The photos make the rooms look about one and a half times larger than they are, but the place is cozy rather than cramped, and one bedroom is actually quite spacious. We could hear footsteps from the upstairs neighbors through what seem to be wooden floors, but no other sounds. We were lucky they weren’t around much, though that could have been annoying with different neighbors. I missed the email with the lock code, and when I couldn’t reach the owner by phone at 10pm, it was worrying and confusing. I worked out where to find the email and got in. The owner did find me about 20 minutes later. Also, there are two houses with this address in London, so tell your taxi driver the area and postcode. We were initially dropped at the wrong place, though fortunately it wasn’t far away. It seemed a little more expensive than other options, but we needed that area. Some of the renovations could have been better.

The hotel couldn’t be reached in the evening, refused a partial refund, and had extremely unfriendly staff. Duvets and bed linen may not be provided for every guest who books. There are much better places to stay in the same location and price range.
