DoubleTree by Hilton London - Greenwich

If quiet and a good night's sleep matter to you, avoid this noisy hotel. My family room for three was on the ground floor, facing the park, and birds started making a lot of noise from 4am. None of us could sleep. Reception said there was no solution or other room, and that the noise was external so not the hotel's fault. I suggested an upgrade, which was refused. I also offered to move to a single or queen room and pay the difference, but they rejected that too. Hilton wanted the full price of an extra room. I paid 180 pound a night for the family room. I didn't mind paying the difference to get two rooms, which should have been around 218 pound total. I was staying at Hilton for 2 nights in a family room and 9 nights in two single rooms. I was told the hotel has rooms with bird noise or rooms near the AC fan plant, which are both noisy. Poor customer service. They should install sound proof windows. The Hilton name is let down by this kind of hotel. Better to stay at an Airbnb.

We booked just one night at Greenwich and have now stayed almost five, thanks to the experience Henry, Ricardo, Wasim, and Edward created. Every interaction was warm, professional, and genuinely focused on people. I've never had service of this standard, and I'm very grateful. Henry deserves special credit for his cocktail-making and for taking extra care to make us feel welcome throughout. That personal touch made the stay even more memorable. I wanted to share this so others might be encouraged to stay at Greenwich and enjoy the same hospitality. Thank you to the whole team, our time here has been exceptional.

What sets the DoubleTree apart for me is its team. Reception, the bar, and breakfast all came with genuine greetings and friendly service. The staff were helpful and remembered their guests. I could also work in the bar during the day without being disturbed. This was our second local stay in a few months while building work was happening at home. We tried the Novotel around the corner last time, but I think the DoubleTree is the better choice. Rooms aren't huge, but they're clean, modern, and well equipped. A little dark, with some signs of wear, but still pretty good. Thank you!

Dinner on our last night was a letdown. It was served in the bar/lounge, where the seating didn't feel right for a sit-down meal. The menu looked decent but was pricey. My gnocchi had a bitter sauce and was almost inedible, so I sent it back. No one apologized or checked in, and I waited about 10 minutes before anyone asked what I'd like instead. The veggie pizza they brought was serviceable. My partner's chicken curry was fine, but the gnocchi was still charged when she paid. Breakfast was decent, but even with a discount it cost £15 each, which didn't feel worthwhile given the limited, overcooked hot options. We stayed a couple of nights for my partner's birthday. The room was small but fairly comfortable, though the opaque bedroom-to-bathroom door was a strange choice. At checkout, they first said we'd be charged for room service we hadn't ordered, then gave us a bill without any room service on it. It felt pointless and odd. Nobody seemed interested in doing their job properly, and they didn't even ask how our stay had been.
