Edward Hotel Paddington

I only lasted one night. I wouldn’t get under the sheets because I was sure I’d end up with bed bugs, so I slept in my sweats. In the morning, ants were crawling all over my oranges. The room was in awful shape: a torn, rippled carpet, holes in the walls, threadbare pillows and blankets, a mattress that sagged badly in the middle, and a broken, damaged bathroom vanity. Even the lobby was dirty and unkept, and the elevator was broken when I arrived. When I complained and asked to cancel my second night, they said there was no manager on duty. I asked some other guests in the lobby how their stay was, and every one of them said no at the same time. This place is a fraud and should be shut down. Don’t stay here.

We chose this hotel for the price and location, and went in expecting less, even before reading all the negative comments. It isn’t especially modern, but our room was clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly. We had a great stay.

We’ve just checked out after a really lovely stay. The rooms are small, as expected, but clean, and the receptionists were very kind. You can’t beat the location, Paddington station is just around the corner, with a train to Heathrow taking about 40 minutes. There are loads of restaurants in the area, serving all kinds of food. It’s a basic hotel, but we knew that going in and didn’t mind. Very good value.

I was only in the room for less than half an hour, about an hour at most, and my asthma got worse and made me feel sick. It was damp and smelly, the carpet was worn out and stank, and the bathroom smelled too. The shower was cold, with no proper hot water. The hotel is out of date and the rooms need refurbishing. I complained to the receptionist, but they didn’t help. They said the manager wasn’t there, so they couldn’t change my room or refund me. This caused a lot of stress and alarm for me and my family. The hotel says it’s child friendly, but it definitely didn’t feel that way, and that claim should be removed. It needs to be refurbished or shut down. Avoid it.
