Europa House Hotel

The room had an electric kettle and tea bags, but no free water, so after travelling tired we had to go out and buy some just to make tea. My friend had stayed in much simpler London hostels that offered complimentary water. The bed was uncomfortable, with springs easy to feel whenever I moved, and the shower took ages to warm up. Sometimes the water barely got hot. The staff's attitude made the stay worse from the start. They were cold and rude, showed little empathy, barely made eye contact, and never smiled. My friend wasn't allowed to come in briefly to help with my luggage after a long trip. When I ordered delivery to eat at the hotel, they looked annoyed, as though it was unreasonable. They also had too many rules and handled things aggressively. Once, while I was resting, they banged on my door and threatened to call the police because I'd smoked a cigarette near the window. That response felt exaggerated and disrespectful. The atmosphere was tense, like guests were being watched and judged instead of welcomed. I stayed three days, which was enough to know I wouldn't return or recommend it. There are better nearby choices with friendlier service and a more welcoming feel, including The Westbourne Hyde Park Hotel and Mercure London Hyde Park Hotel. 0/10.

The room was spotless, cozy, and kept in lovely condition, and the staff were always friendly and happy to help. Getting around was easy too, with Paddington Station a short walk away and Heathrow about 30 minutes away. I really enjoyed staying here and would happily come back.

It was a comfortable stay, with a kettle, a good shower, dependable internet, and enough warmth throughout my visit. The location made it easy to reach transport and nearby attractions, and the staff were welcoming. Good value for money.

For the price, one night was more than fine. It's close to paddington station, with lots of places nearby to get something to eat. The receptionist was really nice and helpful.
