Fitzrovia 1BR with Balcony by Soho

It was packed when I stopped in for a couple of beers, but the service was great and everyone was so friendly. As a tourist, I felt like I was among locals enjoying an evening with friends and a pint. It made me want to stay longer.

Those four big screens show pretty much every sport, and you can book them. I watched motorcycle racing and reckon this new batch of British riders could be the next Barry Sheene generation taking on the Europeans. The pub is a Greene King place, but it serves plenty of international brands instead of local high-margin dross. It’s an old-school pub in a handy spot, and it feels respectable and runs efficiently, which you don’t find in every central London pub. Service is exemplary, the place is exceptionally clean, and the atmosphere is warm. Get off at Goodge Street, walk around the corner and have an Estrella Galicia. I’d eat here too, though I live just up the road.

Helen, the chef, even came out to greet us, and Agatha was lovely behind the bar, really friendly. The traditional breakfast was delicious, especially with the best country bread they served it with.

The food was outstanding, and I can’t wait to go back. I’d been looking forward to Fitzrovia reopening, and it lived up to that anticipation. The music helped create a lovely atmosphere, and the staff gave excellent recommendations. Service was impeccable, with the place clean and well organized and a positive vibe throughout. I’d recommend it without hesitation.
