Gateway Hotel

The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the place was nice and fairly clean. We stayed with my girlfriend and found it good value for money. The location is really convenient, with everything we needed close by.

Traffic can be noticeable if you're sensitive to noise, and we could feel the Northern line rumbling through the floors. The earplugs provided were surprisingly comfortable, though. The beds are too short for anyone over 180. The owner was friendly and helped us park our car in front of the hotel during our visit. It's a good place for a weekend in London, with an Underground station, a park, supermarkets, and restaurants close by.

We've stayed at this small, pleasant hotel near Clapham South underground station twice now, and will probably come again next year. The rooms are clean and tidy. Road noise is the one issue, but keeping the windows closed makes it manageable.

I had trouble sleeping because I could hear the trains and a neighboring guest snoring exceptionally loudly. My husband slept through it, but the earplugs they provide didn't stand a chance against that snoring. The room itself was very clean, with glasses, towels, a hair dryer, body wash, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. There was no shampoo or conditioner. Shower pressure was very low, though the water was lovely and hot. The lighted mirror was great, but could have used magnification. I got cold overnight and could have done with a blanket, though maybe reception would have provided extra covers if asked. Check-in was easy, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect for our visit.
