I had a really frustrating experience with Goodwin St Hotel. I discussed my booking with the property and was told Agoda could resolve the issue. Later, when Agoda needed the hotel's confirmation, the property stopped responding. Agoda and I both tried repeatedly over an extended period, but got no meaningful reply. The issue could have been sorted with one simple response, yet it stayed unresolved for months. The customer service was poor and the communication even worse. I'd urge anyone thinking of booking to take that into account.

The rooms are clean and fine, with a standard London size, and the staff tried to help. But I booked an en-suite room and was first given one with the bathroom in the corridor. After I complained, I got another room, but only for two nights, then had to move back to the corridor-bathroom room. Another room opened up the next day, so I moved again. That's three moves in four nights. They promised compensation and said they'd handle it, although they said the mistake was Booking.com's. I sent two emails asking about the compensation, then my third email got no reply. It's a shame the promise wasn't kept. Ignoring guests like that is bad form, and I found it very disappointing.

We stayed a few nights while waiting for our daughter to get the keys to her new flat. It was clean, quiet, well equipped and in a convenient location. We'll definitely come back when we visit her again.

The room was sparkling clean and had everything we needed, including a mini fridge and a large standing fan for the warm weather. We also had a balcony, which was great in summer, and because the room faced the back, it stayed quiet and peaceful all day. The lift made it easy to get our luggage upstairs. Staff were friendly and helpful when I left my bags in the office so I could go out for a few hours. We stayed for two nights. Finsbury Park underground and bus station is right nearby, with routes all around London, and the hotel is accessible for getting around. The quality was brilliant and I'd definitely recommend it. The one drawback was slow communication from staff, who took a while to answer messages or the phone when I wanted to store my luggage. The room also wasn't cleaned daily.
