Ham Yard Hotel, Firmdale Hotels

The room is beautiful and the service team were genuinely kind and attentive, but the food didn't come close to justifying the price. We paid close to £75 per person, including the 13.5% service charge, for afternoon tea with a glass of English sparkling wine. Prices seemed to have gone up for the festive season, so expectations were high. The two scones were tiny, dense, and a little rubbery. Finger sandwiches were average at best, and I had to take chewy pieces of chicken out of my mouth. The prawn roll bun was dry, while the four little cakes were overwhelmingly sweet. We went to Ham Yard Hotel for a birthday, and the setting really is lovely. The staff serving us were very nice, but that was where the good parts ended. With small portions, the quality needs to be very high, and it simply wasn't. For a place that presents itself as premium, I expected much better execution and attention to detail.

We've stayed at Ham countless times and wouldn't choose anywhere else. From the door opening when you arrive, it feels like coming home. The staff are warm and helpful, every little detail is looked after, and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is just lovely.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and really comfortable, the food is fantastic, and the whole place has that home away from home feeling. My family and I stay at Ham Yard Hotel every time we're in London. The welcome at reception, the doormen, and the restaurant team are all wonderful, and every department gives great service. We feel genuinely cared for, especially with the children, which makes a real difference. It's clear the management keeps the hotel running to a very high standard, and everything works smoothly. For us, it's one of London's best, with top level service and plenty of warmth and personality.

The food has been outstanding on both of my recent visits. Even the simple bread, olives, and nuts were among the best I've had, and the desserts and cheese board were excellent too. Service was professional and attentive, and each dish felt carefully prepared, with lovely balance and presentation. The Spanish house white is smooth and easy to drink, the kind of wine I could happily enjoy all day.
