Rahul from maintenance deserves a special mention. When I had a room issue, he dealt with it promptly and professionally, stayed calm and polite, and checked carefully that it was fully fixed before leaving. His helpfulness made me feel looked after and turned a small inconvenience into a positive experience. Veneeth and John were very kind and helpful as well. I recently had a very pleasant stay at Hampton by Hilton London City. The hotel is modern, clean, and well located. This kind of service shows how much guest comfort matters, and I'd gladly stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting London.

The reception and restaurant share a large area where there's room to relax. It's next to Banglatown, with lots of curry restaurants nearby. I stayed during a conference and found it good value. The rooms were small but had basic amenities, and the breakfast buffet each morning was handy for a quick bite.

At breakfast, the reception area is hot and crowded because the two are in the same space. It's unpleasant to talk with reception a few metres from people eating, with cutlery clattering in the background. For a 4-star hotel, a welcoming, intimate but open reception matters a lot for that first impression. It would be a good idea to reorganize the space. The hotel seemed friendly at first and was easy to get to, and reception staff were helpful to a point. But the room wasn't as clean as I expected, and I was disappointed. There were no slippers, toothpaste, toothbrush, bathrobes, or anything in the mini-bar. We asked reception for slippers and a basic dental kit, but they said they couldn't bring them up and we had to collect them downstairs. We also called for towels and got the same response. I told them it didn't feel normal to have to walk through the hotel carrying towels as a guest, especially when we're paying for the room and amenities. They understood and said they'd try to bring them within 15 minutes, but nothing arrived. I called again and insisted that someone bring towels to our room within 2 minutes, and that worked. It took two calls and was an unpleasant experience.

The breakfast team really stood out. I’m gluten free, and Hirikesh took time on both mornings to explain what I could eat and brought toast and gluten free cereal from the kitchen. We also needed an extra pillow, which was brought straight to our room. Vani checked us in even though we arrived early, and it was no problem. The room was spacious, very clean and had everything we needed. Everyone was friendly and greeted us in the corridor or at the desk. Such a lovely hotel, we’d happily stay again and recommend it.
