I loved the building’s character and how beautifully it’s been maintained. My room was just the right size for a solo traveler, comfortable and thoughtfully designed, with a lovely view to wake up to and a cozy, distinctive bathroom. The shared living room was lovely too, and guests can use it even after checking out. Harlingford Hotel is my favorite place I’ve stayed in London by far. The location is ideal, a short walk from lovely local parks, the Brunswick community, and the heart of Bloomsbury. They also serve a wonderful English breakfast at a very reasonable price, which made the stay even better. It really felt like a little retreat in the middle of London.

The Harlingford Hotel is still our first choice whenever we're in London, thanks to its lovely, spotless rooms and such a handy location. Breakfast was the one disappointment this time. We were sent to the buffet when we asked about a hot breakfast, then saw a sign saying eggs, porridge and hot drinks needed to be ordered from staff. When we asked for hot chocolate, we were told to get it from the machine on the first floor ourselves. Guests were greeted as they came in, but no one offered tea or coffee, which is usually standard at this sort of hotel. The morning service used to be much better. We still recommend the Harlingford for its charm and presentation, and hope breakfast service gets back to its usual standard.

The beds were comfortable, the rooms quiet, and there was a coffee machine on the first floor. The location was also good, with restaurants, cafes and bars within walking distance, and despite the staff's offhand manner, we'd stay again. We booked a three-night break and had been told we'd be on the first floor, but were initially given a gloomy basement room with no acknowledgement of the mix-up. My wife had an allergic reaction as soon as she entered, possibly to an air freshener. The front desk eventually moved us to a lovely first-floor room for the first night, then put us in a very small room for the third night.

We chose the hotel to be near a friend in hospital, and the location worked perfectly, with shops and other conveniences close by. It had a home-like feel, especially the pleasant sitting room with its gentle resident dog and a little glimpse into the building's history. Our room was small, but clean and entirely functional. Staff were consistently helpful and professional. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who can manage the stairs.

We walked into central London in about 30 minutes, though that might not suit everyone and depends on the weather. Bloomsbury also has good Tube links. The hotel was a great find, with accommodating reception staff who let us leave our bag early and check in late. Breakfast was amazing, and the staff were lovely. Everything was clean as a whistle. Our room wasn't huge, but it was perfectly fine, and the bathroom was a good size, clean and well looked after. A fantastic stay, and we'd definitely return.
