Heathrow Lodge

The room and bathroom were very clean, and there was a sink with a drinking water tap. We paid for a basic room for the night before our flight so we could get to the airport easily, and didn’t expect it to be so nice. The front desk staff lent us an outlet converter for our US chargers, and drove us to the airport in the morning. Across the street from the lodge is a really charming pub. The owner was friendly, and they serve Indian food as well as pub dishes like burgers, fish and chips, big breakfasts, desserts and drinks. Great value for what we paid.

The shuttle driver was excellent. They drove us at the agreed time and helped with our bags. The shower head couldn’t be adjusted, and it was so low and close to the wall that I had to lean my head against the wall to wash my hair. The place could use a good deep clean. Next time, I’ll stay another night at a nice hotel farther away and just take an early cab.

The staff were lovely, and getting to Heathrow T5 was really convenient. But the £30 price comes with very basic comfort. I could hear people in other rooms and coming and going along the hall, and it was busy enough that using the shared toilet wasn't pleasant. The bed was uncomfortable too, with the springs easy to feel. Fine if you just need a cheap place in a handy spot, but I'd look elsewhere for a restful night.

Everything was clean, and I slept okay with earplugs. Without them, the planes passing constantly and the other guests would've kept me awake. My basic room was in a house around the corner, so there was no Wi-Fi. Check-in also took at least 20 minutes, which was far too long. Still, it's much cheaper than other hotels and just one stop away on the free 423 bus. A budget bed before a morning flight is what it is, so don't expect hotel luxury.
