Holiday Inn Express London Golders Green

The free parking and short drive from the M1 made arriving and leaving easy for us coming from the north. The hotel is close to the busy North Circular, but the soundproofing worked really well. There was a family with a baby in the next room and we never heard them. We stayed two nights, one adult and two teens, and it was great value for a family. The room was clean and roomy enough, and breakfast was good. The sofa bed looked unpromising but turned out surprisingly comfortable. Staff were lovely too. The nearest tube is a bus ride away, but buses come often and the stop is right outside.

The pull-out sofa sagged in the middle and was so uncomfortable that we ended up putting its mattress on the floor. The main bed, though, was very comfortable. Staff at the front desk, restaurant and bar were really friendly and helpful, and did everything they could for us. Breakfast was tasty and had lots of choice. I just wish there'd been tinned tomatoes.

I only needed somewhere to sleep for the night, and it was basic but clean. I got a night's kip. I've lived in some proper dumps and bad areas over the last 58 years, and even if I were paid, I wouldn't call this place posh 😅🤣😭. Still, it did the job as a clean, comfortable place to sleep. This was a couple of years ago, when I needed a room for the night.

Breakfast was the best part of our stay. There was a good range of choices, including some kosher options, and I'm pretty sure I drank my weight in hot chocolate. The hotel itself didn't feel up to the usual Holiday Inn Express standard, at least compared with the US. On our first night we ate there, and I wouldn't recommend it. There are nicer places within walking distance at similar prices. Our room had a ceiling leak on the first night. It was fixed the next day, but the carpet stayed wet for the rest of our stay and smelled a bit off. Parking is limited, especially if there's an event on, so keep that in mind if you're driving. The nearest tube station is a little over a mile away, so another hotel closer to a station might suit you better.
