Breakfast was what you'd expect, with plenty to choose from on the buffet. The service was friendly and very good, and both the rooms and shared areas were clean and well kept. The location has lots of shops and a lively nightlife. I do wish the Plough & Harrow next door were still open. It's pretty standard for an HIX. There can be a wait at the bar if reception staff are busy checking people in, since they handle the bar too. Rooms toward the back can also get train noise.

The location was good and staff were helpful and available throughout my ten-night stay, but the service was one of the biggest problems. When we arrived, the initial response was that we should look for another hotel if we wanted, because the room heating wasn't working. That was deeply concerning. We'd booked months ahead, and as international travellers we have to plan trips well in advance. Being told to find somewhere else on the night we arrived really took us aback. To their credit, staff checked the room and helped us get the heater working. But after three nights it stopped again, and it still wasn't fixed after I complained. The hotel's top management really needs to take a close look at how the place is being run.

The rooms are simple, but they have all the amenities you need, and the location is great for exploring greater London or taking a walk down to the river. The staff at the Holiday Inn Express Hammersmith made our stay feel like home. We arrived for a weekend and ended up extending it to a little over a week. The team did everything they could to look after us, helped with packages, and welcomed us warmly at breakfast every morning. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in the area.

Our room was comfortable and fairly clean, with a modern shower and toilet. We stayed one night for an Eventim Apollo show, about 10 minutes away, and the high street shops were handy, with plenty of places to eat or pick things up. Breakfast was free. The croissants and orange juice were good, but the cooked food wasn't great and the coffee was a bit bitter. The duvets were too warm even with the window open. Our room was only 30 feet from the main railway line, so trains were a regular noise if that bothers you.

We stayed four nights on our first visit to London and were so glad we picked this hotel in Hammersmith. The staff were wonderful, kind and attentive, and quickly brought anything extra we asked for. I wish I'd caught some of their names to mention them. After a few trips where a hotel added to our stress instead of helping us relax, HIE Hammersmith did the latter. We'd definitely stay again. The location is excellent. Hammersmith and Ravenscourt Park Tube stations are both less than a ten-minute walk away, and they're well connected. The Thames is about an eight-minute walk, with several good riverside pubs nearby. King Street has plenty of restaurants and shops, including the Amnesty bookshop. We felt safe walking back from the nearby pubs at night. The area and hotel were quiet during our stay, though we weren't there on a weekend, so it might be busier on Friday or Saturday. For London Zone 2, about $475 USD total for four nights was great value, though I'm not sure whether that was an IHG member rate. Breakfast was included and decent. The room was dated, but we couldn't complain at that price. It was clean and housekeeping did a good job, despite carpet stains and cracks in the bathroom floor tiles. There were no bugs or signs of them, and I always check hotel mattresses for bed bugs. Some people might find the room small, but it was perfect for a couple. The one thing we really missed was a microwave in the room. The air conditioning could have worked better and cooled things faster. I know most of Europe doesn't have the same level of AC as the States. I'm quite heat intolerant and worried I'd need to ask for a fan, but it turned out fine. I could see it being a problem in summer rather than early March.
