Horangee Pocha

We spent nearly an hour trying to get the BBQ to heat up, while staff kept telling us it was working. Nothing on the grill actually cooked, so in the end we gave up and ate from the buffet. The servers seemed very young and inexperienced, and didn’t show much urgency in sorting it out. The restaurant was also asking customers for 5-star reviews in exchange for free drinks, which felt questionable considering how the meal went. Frustrating and poor value. I wouldn’t come back to Horangee Pocha.

The karaoke table was so sticky and dirty it left marks on the table and my bag. I had to ask staff to clean it. I was also charged 33£ for the buffet instead of 18£. They said only the hot food buffet was lunch, but the menu doesn’t say that anywhere. The food was okay, though the BBQ meat looked like it had been sitting out for a while and some cuts of pork(?) had gone greenish. We were seated under a leaking air conditioner, and later that night I got food poisoning. I wouldn’t eat here again. Be careful about the 5-star reviews. A lot come from a free-drinks promotion, so they don’t give an accurate picture of the food or service.

The staff were so welcoming and kind, and we had a lovely time. The bibimbap and bulgogi were absolutely delicious, and we’ll come back to try the BBQ. Special thanks to Yuna? Or Juna, sorry, I didn’t catch her name properly, for such lovely service!

We booked karaoke for two hours and the all-you-can-eat KBBQ buffet for our friend’s birthday party of six. The buffet was £33 per person and felt well worth it. The time limit was 1.5 hours, but we didn’t actually start eating until 30 minutes after our booking time, and the staff were fine about that, so credit to them. The meat cuts are classic KBBQ, with everything halal except the pork. There were also fried wings, seafood pancakes, Korean rice cakes and other cooked dishes. The selection might not look huge, but we were all completely full. The karaoke deposit was £25 per person, paid to the boss by bank transfer to confirm the booking, and it came off the final bill with the buffet. Not every song is available, though most mainstream ones are. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed with background music, but the table could have been less sticky. I’d come back with friends or family for the food and karaoke.
