Hostel Houses Mayfair

There was a cockroach in the hallway between my room and the bathroom, which raised serious hygiene concerns. The bathroom was advertised as private, but I had to leave my room and cross a shared public hallway to reach it. That was misleading, inconvenient, and gave me no privacy. I pointed this out to staff and asked to change rooms, but was told it wasn't possible. I complained to the hotel, but they haven't refunded me for the falsely advertised room or changed the listing. I attached evidence and a video.

A pretty place, close to lots of amenities and plenty of places to eat and drink. The apartments are quiet.

The location is great, and the place could be good, but my stay was primitive and rude. Check-in and the room were as expected, and the first night was fine. On the second evening, water to the whole building went off. I messaged the hotel at 4:59pm, called at 5:04pm and 5:25pm, then texted at 10:31pm, 12:32am, 2:21am and 2:23am. Early the next morning I called booking.com, but they couldn't get an answer either. Staff arrived around 8:30am, flipped a switch, and the water came back. The following evening it lasted longer, then went off at 7:06pm. Again, nobody replied until staff showed up the next morning. Booking.com asked the hotel to refund me, saying the stay didn't meet their standards or anyone's standards today. The hotel didn't honor that request. Four days after checkout, they messaged me saying I was lying and the water had only been off for a few hours. Try being on vacation without a bathroom or a shower before starting your day.

The location is superb, but this isn't a hotel, just basic rooms advertised as one. There's no reception, cleaning lady or elevator. One guy comes for check-in and says he's available 24/7, but when you need him, he isn't available. We stayed 3 nights. For the same price, there are 20 actual hotels within a 200m walk. If you're over 180cm tall, I'd strongly suggest booking somewhere else. The bed was only 180cm long, so my legs hung over the edge. The shower is too low unless you bend your head, and the narrow, low staircase means you can't walk upright. Bring your own towel too, apparently they're short on them.
