Hotel Du Vin Cannizaro House

Our room was comfortable and well kept, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. Hotel du Vin Cannizaro House has a peaceful, elegant feel in a lovely setting, so it made a relaxing break from the city. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. We'd happily recommend it for a quiet stay.

I've been a regular here, but after this afternoon I and my friends won't eat here again. The hotel is beautiful, but the food and the way we were treated were awful. I wouldn't recommend eating there. A friend and I came for a late lunch. The Panini took ages to arrive and was inedible. We complained and they made another, which was even worse. The manager gave us courgettis frites and olives on the house while we waited for a third Panini. That took another 30 minutes and was tasteless. Since the manager said the food was complimentary and I was very hungry, I tried it, but could only manage half. When we were leaving, the new manager, MAX, charged us for the awful Panini, saying the earlier manager had told him it wasn't on the house. He argued with us in the rudest, most arrogant way I've seen in a restaurant, let alone a hotel. The whole experience was stressful. Such a lovely hotel, with a terrible chef and even worse managers.

The location was good value, and breakfast was great. My room was tiny, though, so the large window still let in very little daylight. The bathroom pipes backed up and left a sewage smell.

Afternoon tea here is a lovely way to slow down for a while. The elegant surroundings, pretty grounds and relaxed mood make it feel like a peaceful escape, even with London so close.
