The rooms were dirty and dusty, the bath was badly mouldy, and the heating made it far too hot. There are no lifts, so expect lots of stairs if you're on the top floor. The bathroom was very basic, the shower was mouldy and there weren't many toiletries. It didn't look like the pictures. We couldn't really watch TV. The set was small and old, not a smart TV, and the remotes didn't work. We asked for another one, but that failed too, and we couldn't download an app to change channels. The Thai restaurant directly downstairs was actually nice, as was the retro artwork on the stairs. Staff were super friendly. The location's great, with the underground nearby, a nice pub next door and a Starbucks not too far away. There's no parking, but we found a spot at a nearby accommodation for a relatively cheap price, about a five-minute walk away.
The room was disgusting, nothing like the nice-looking exterior. The floor was squishy underfoot, as if we might fall through at any moment, probably because the wood was rotten. It felt like a deathtrap, especially thinking about a fire. The black mould was everywhere and smelled rancid. I was genuinely worried about sleeping there because it felt like we were breathing in the mould. We hadn't been given the room we'd booked. When I showed proof of purchase and asked for the right one, the receptionist said I was wrong and that they were fully booked. The sheets were dirty, covered in hairs and had blood on them. They clearly hadn't been changed since the last guests. There was grime all over the room, rubbish left in the bathroom, and the supposedly complimentary shower gel and soap had been used and were half empty. The toothbrush cup still had old toothpaste stuck to it, and an old cleaning sponge with suspicious yellow stains had been left on the radiator. The receptionist was rude and brushed off our concerns. Absolutely shameless, with zero care. Our booking company was kind enough to move us to a nicer hotel, though really any hotel would've been better. Good luck to anyone who had to sleep there all night. KW Hotel, you should care more about the state of your hotel and whether your guests are comfortable.
The staff member I met was friendly and polite, and the room was warm, cosy, and a decent size for two. The bathroom was quite spacious and the shower worked well. We had two beds, though both were called doubles and felt small for two people. The retro film posters and neon in the reception and corridors give the place an unusual look. Cleaning could have been more thorough in both the room and bathroom, and the thin walls and doors let noise through. Street sounds carried on until about midnight. The room blind was broken, with no cord, and looked more damaged where people had forced a hand through it to open or close the window. There was tea but no coffee, and the corridors had a strange smell, a bit like blocked drains. The hotel was generally fine, but £110 for one night didn’t feel like good value.
Staff were really friendly, and for a cheap place to sleep in London this did the job. Our room had enough beds for four and was close to both events we were attending over the weekend. We were happy with what we paid, as long as you don’t expect much comfort or a particularly clean, well-kept room. It did look a little worn and falling apart, but it met our expectations. If you have high standards even when booking somewhere cheap, it probably won’t suit you. One thing to know is that the hotel overlooks a prison.
I was stuck here for nearly a week because it was half term and I couldn’t find another hotel. The room was awful: there were wood lice in the shower, the tray was cracked, and the woodwork was rotten. The blind wouldn’t work, so I had to cover it with a towel to keep the light out. I had photos of how bad the room was, but there was never anyone around to speak to or complain to. I’d never return and would tell people to avoid booking this hotel.
