The overcrowding and lack of living space for two people are unacceptable, comparable to prison conditions. The Home Office should be deeply ashamed to allow circumstances like this.

For the rate we paid, it was fine for a short stay, and I’d come again. Check-in and checkout were hassle-free, the bed was very comfortable, and there were spare pillows. Breakfast wasn’t a huge spread, but the basic buffet was there and the bacon was very nice. The room was compact, as expected. There was plenty of storage for cases, but I wouldn’t want to stay long. The bathroom was like a portable toilet and shower combined.

The hotel felt professional, clean, and tidy, and the room was big enough and fairly well equipped. The mattress was firmer than I like, so I woke up a little sore. There’s a walk-in shower instead of a bath, which is fair enough given the hotel’s apparent interest in environmental issues. The restaurant was closed the night I stayed, but we ate at the attached pub instead and found the food a decent standard, so it didn’t bother us. Overall, I’d recommend it.

The cafe off the lobby smells AMAZING. Staff were very nice, and the room was pleasant with a wonderful, brand-new bathroom. There was no air conditioning because some parts of the hotel were under construction, but they gave us a fan. There are no window screens, so bugs can get in if you open the window. We could hear people at the pub next door depending on where your room is. The “free” breakfast was just okay. I’d stay again 🙂
