The staff were brilliant, and my executive room was comfortable and quiet. I stayed for a couple of nights in January for my birthday, as a treat after a bereavement. Breakfast one morning was fantastic. I picked the hotel because it’s near Kew Gardens Station and the Gardens, though it was too wet to visit the Gardens. Instead, I took the overground to Richmond for some retail therapy. I’d highly recommend the hotel. It’s handy having a pub there too, so you can get a last drink when you’re back before closing.

We had a lovely Sunday meal here. There were lots of tables, plus a conservatory with more, and the place seemed almost full of local families and their dogs. The staff were really friendly and attentive, especially with our group of five adults who had different food requirements. They met our expectations. The starters and main course were delicious and came in good portions. We all chose different roasts, which were cooked perfectly in my opinion, with plenty of flavour and some unusual vegetables. The apple pie was the favourite dessert. Our waiter was great fun and suggested a wine that wasn’t on the menu. We enjoyed it.

The food is fantastic. We’ve said more than once that if we lived locally, we’d eat here every night. During our five-night stay, the room was comfortable, well stocked and cleaned, but what makes KGH stand out is the people. The staff were so welcoming and looked after me and my partner with warmth, humour and friendliness. We’re already planning to come back. A brilliant place, and I can’t say enough about how friendly, funny and fab the staff are. Thanks again!

We’ve stayed here several years in a row when my wife has had work trips to Kew. It’s perfectly placed for walking to the garden, and there’s a Tube stop for getting to other parts of London. The pub downstairs is lovely for a meal or a nightcap. Some rooms may feel small if you have lots of luggage or are used to American hotel rooms, while others are roomy enough. Check the room size if that matters to you.

The manager on the night gave outstanding service. He was approachable, proactive and had a great sense of humour. When I arrived before the event, all the tables in the bar area were reserved. I wanted chilled bottles of water that we could serve ourselves, so he set out ice buckets for them. I’d arranged the get-together with a few friends and had spoken with two other managers beforehand. They were both very helpful too. The manager who welcomed me that night went above and beyond, and nothing was too much trouble. Five-star service. Thank you.
