London Greenwich Stay

Our room was crawling with bed bugs. My 13-year-old daughter and I are covered in bites, and the staff didn't care. It was one of the most horrible nights of our lives, and the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The place needs fumigating, though I doubt the owners will bother. I'd read other reviews saying the owners cancel people's rooms at the last minute and then give them to someone else for more money. They tried it with us too, cancelling our booking and calling it a “mistake.” It obviously wasn't one. We've reported them to Environmental Health and expect compensation for the bites. I implore you not to stay here. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this ordeal.

If you enjoy unpleasant last-minute surprises while travelling into London, this hotel is perfect. Make sure you have a clear Plan B in case they decide to cancel your reservation, and turn WhatsApp off if you want a calm trip without new demands or nasty messages. Better yet, avoid Simple Stay Greenwich altogether. The risk is too great, and other accommodation will be just as nice and a much safer bet. You've been warned by this review and others. I'm a frequent traveller and booked well in advance. While we were on the train into London, they messaged to say my card details couldn't be used. I changed them twice, and both cards had enough funds. They kept complaining until they stopped. Then they contacted me on WhatsApp while I was still on the train, asking me to send documents to complete the booking and check-in. As I was looking for them, another message arrived saying they'd cancelled my booking. We had to quickly find somewhere else. Other people have already described the horrendously malevolent customer service, and here's another example.

After we turned off the lights, we realised we weren't alone in the room. It was full of bedbugs, crawling in the bed, on the blinds, up the walls and across the floor. We eventually got hold of the owners, who didn't seem interested or to care. We had no choice but to leave. We'll now be sending an invoice for dry cleaning, car fumigation, damages for the bites, and a refund of the hotel bill. We've also notified the local council. Please don't put yourselves through this ghastly nightmare.

I booked months ago, then got a message saying my card had been declined. I checked with the bank and there were no issues. I tried calling the hotel, got hung up on, and then received a cancellation message. They won't reply to messages either. I wonder if it had something to do with the London marathon being on that weekend and them being able to charge more. Wouldn't recommend taking the risk.
