At 12:17 a.m. I’m still awake because the room next door has been playing loud hip-hop continuously. I called reception at 11:45 p.m. to report it, but nobody answered, even though I’d been told the desk was staffed until midnight. I even knocked on the adjoining wall to try to alert the people there, but it made no difference. I could have put up with the hotel feeling tired, dated, and very basic. Being able to sleep is a basic expectation, and this stay failed completely. I won’t return, and I’ll make sure my workplace doesn’t book here again.

Good value for the price, with friendly staff and good service. The bathroom sink water temperature was inconsistent, sometimes it only ran hot. I didn’t get around to mentioning it to the staff, so I don’t hold it against them. One thing to keep in mind about the location is that one of the nearest tube stations is on a branch line among several, so you need to pay attention to which train you catch. It wasn’t much of a hassle.

We were worried there might be noise, but we were so tired that we slept through any there may have been. The room was clean and warm, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was a good size for the price, and the location made it easy to get into London by tube in about 30-45 mins. The room looked a little tired, with marks on the bathroom ceiling and curtains coming off the rail, but that didn’t affect our stay. I was impressed and would stay again at London Star Hotel.

The rooms were clean and nice, and the staff helped us sort out the temperature. It was a little too hot in the room. Also, you can’t switch off the bathroom mirror light, which was inconvenient at night. All in all, a very good choice.

I stayed nearby for work and found this a great value. The room was clean and comfortable, and check-in was straightforward. There are plenty of places to eat close by, including the excellent George & Dragon, which has Thai food, live music, and a big drinks menu.
