LSE High Holborn - Campus Accommodation

The price was good, and I’d stay here again. The dorm was a decent size, with a shared bathroom and a kitchen down the hall. My bed was fair to good, though I’ve had better and worse. It is a dorm, after all. Breakfast every day was top notch. The location was great, about 400 metres from British Museum and a 7-15 minute walk from lots of historic sights, pubs, theatres, and places to eat. Everything was handled efficiently.

I haven’t stayed at lse halls of residence for twenty years, so I can’t judge it now, especially as I understand the management has changed. I’m planning to book a visit in the near future and will share what I find. I’m honest in my reviews, as I was after my stay 20+ years ago. Back then, it was clean and efficient, with extremely friendly front of house staff. As a disabled person, I ended up testing how well things were handled, though not deliberately. Mr Holmes was always on top of whatever needed doing, 24/7. It was a pleasure to see him arrive and sort out even the smallest issues, and they never happened again. I find the reports of rude staff hard to believe. My first visit was fantastic all round.

For a short stay, this reasonably priced dorm in central London does the job. I chose a room with a private bathroom, and being high up gave me amazing views, though I could still hear some city noise with the windows shut. Having a kitchen next door was handy. Depending on when you go, the breakfast queue can stretch out the door, but there was pretty much everything. It might take you back to your uni days, lol.

The place was dated, the front staff were rude, and the three-bed ensuite was filthy for what I paid. It cost $278 for two nights, and I regret it. Construction made it noisy, and there was no AC. I won’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it.
