Dinner with my family was awful from start to finish. The kids enjoyed dancing to the music, but after waiting over 20 minutes for a jug of juice and hearing several times that it was on its way, I finally went to the bar to get it. The same server who had reassured me poured it in front of me. We asked six times for our cake, then waited around 20 minutes. When it came, there were no candles; the candles arrived without a lighter, and asking for one became another ordeal. The parking situation was never explained. When we arrived, the car park was full, and we were told to block other cars in and leave our number. The attendant then called during our meal whenever someone needed to move, so I had to keep going out to shift the car. Eventually I gave up and parked a few streets away. It also made me wonder how anyone could leave quickly in an emergency, or how emergency services could get access. The food service was disjointed. Our vegetarian starters came, but the non-vegetarian ones took more than 20 minutes, so we had to eat at different times during a family dinner for my parents. Later, we ordered three more mains and three naans. The mains arrived but not the naans; after asking three times and waiting over 20 minutes, the food had gone cold. They'd also taken our plates away, so we ended up eating straight from the karahi. By then we just wanted to cut the cake, pay, and face the 25-minute wait to get out of the car park. We'd specifically asked the duty manager to keep the drinks bill separate from the food bill, and reminded them several times, but part of the drinks ended up on the food bill, making it awkward to split. The worst part was the mixed grill. The kebabs were a bit too pink for me, though they might have been cooked, so I left mine. The lamb chop was raw. I told the manager, who checked with the chef and apologized. He said the chef was sorry, but these things can happen when they're busy. That made me think either the kitchen can't manage the number of diners or they accept cutting corners on food quality at busy times. Neither is okay, especially from a health and safety point of view. I felt the raw food and parking setup breached health and safety rules, and suspected there could be other breaches driven by profit without considering the consequences. I'm lucky I recover quickly from illness, but uncooked food could have caused serious problems for a vulnerable adult or child. They didn't replace the dish, which is basic restaurant etiquette, and left the raw chop on the table in front of me. At one point I was sure it was about to go baaaa. Absolutely awful service.
We held our wedding reception here and were really pleased with the service. The staff were helpful and accommodating throughout. We’ll definitely return for future events.
I went to a function at Mehfil Restaurant Banquet in September and found the whole experience disappointing. The food fell short, and the portions were far too small for a banquet. The servers had a rude attitude and served guests in a way that felt disrespectful, almost as though we were begging instead of attending a paid event. The manager was rude and unprofessional, and the owner, Ginni, showed no basic manners or courtesy. The business seemed poorly run, with little understanding of hospitality. I wouldn't recommend it for a meal or a function. Other venues offer better value and treat their guests with respect.
The food was freshly cooked and full of flavour, and the bar had a wide choice of drinks. We were shown real Punjabi hospitality, with excellent service throughout the evening. We also noticed there’s a banqueting hall for parties. Guinea, one of the co-owners, gave us a warm welcome for our Tuesday dinner. We shared the Mehfil mix non veg platter, butter chicken, Punjabi lamb masala, and methi (fenugreek) chicken, with soft garlic nans. At my daughter's request, they also made a special portion of garlic rice. Thanks for a lovely evening. We'll try one of the music nights on Fri/Sat.
I ordered noodles and Manchurian, and both were disappointing. The gravy was very watery and didn't taste good. When I asked a staff member about it, they didn't answer or try to sort it out. The tandoori roti was badly burnt, too. The food and service were both poor. Samaira, one of the staff, behaved very badly and started arguing at the end.
