After a long walk along the river, I stopped in for a pint and a really good pizza. It’s a relaxed, welcoming pub with friendly staff, and it feels like a proper neighbourhood local. Much more genuine than the touristy pubs over the river in Greenwich. A nice place to take a break while exploring the Isle of Dogs.

We had concert plans and a tight schedule, so after asking for a refund we booked somewhere else. We couldn’t wait around with no clear idea of when the room would be ready, and we weren’t comfortable leaving our bags there either. On arrival, the hotel wasn’t open and we had to wait outside. Once we got in, the staff member barely acknowledged us and seemed more focused on turning on the TVs than checking us in. Then he showed us a room, opened the door, and said it wasn’t ready. He checked another and said that one was filthy. There was no proper apology or urgency, and he spent more time on his phone than sorting things out. The hotel felt dated and musty, and the stairs and floors were visibly dirty, like they hadn’t been vacuumed for ages. The whole place seemed unclean, disorganised, and badly managed. The lack of concern about the inconvenience was especially disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
The staff were really kind, and I enjoyed my stay. For the price, I thought it was worth it. The window didn’t shut all the way, and neither did the curtains, though the heating worked so well that these issues weren’t a big problem. They’re still small things that probably ought to be fixed.
The food was spot on, and the prices were good. We’d heard the pizzas were freshly made there, so a group of friends and I went to the ship to try them. We were all impressed, and there’s a great range of toppings to suit different tastes. The drinks were good too. Friendly, helpful team, a nice vibe, and a great location. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back and check it out again.
We were a big group and they welcomed us in. Simon sang 'my way', and we all cheered. Great place.
