The neighborhood was pleasantly quiet at night, even with plenty of shops, diners, and bars nearby, and getting around was easy with lots of transport options. Our room matched its description and worked well for sleeping. The bed was really comfortable, the shower did the job, and the shared toilet was always clean and available. The room also had surprisingly good ventilation for a place with just one window. Breakfast was tasty and filling, and the staff were so kind and helpful. I'd happily recommend it for a stay of a few days.

The sheets seemed clean, and having parking was useful. Beyond that, it was a pretty awful stay. There was no hot water, the shower was filthy and mouldy, and the room had a musty smell. The beds felt old and uncomfortable, with very cheap mattresses. It was the cheapest option nearby, but nowhere near worth the price. I can't believe the five-star reviews here weren't paid for. For a room like this, I'd expect to pay only £15.

We picked it because Alexander Palace was only a ten-minute walk from our event, and there were lots of shops and places to eat nearby. Our en-suite room was nice enough, though very basic. There was no toothpaste, and the two small shower gels wouldn't have been enough. Breakfast was included and served from 7 to 9 am, which made it good value overall.

There was plenty within walking distance, and we had a pleasant stay. The breakfast was freshly cooked when requested, and the portion was a nice size. The rooms are modest but comfortable. Parking is the main letdown, since there isn't any on site or nearby. Also, some rooms have only a shower and aren't en suite.

We stayed eight nights in room 24, which had its own toilet and shower. We hadn't booked breakfast, but because of the length of our stay we were given continental breakfast for free. We also ordered English breakfast on two days, at £4 each, and it was worth it. Thanks to Mrs. Carmen for the warm milk and delicious breakfast, and to the kitchen team and everyone else, who were extremely nice. When my parcel arrived, the receptionist brought it right to our door. The room had tea and coffee facilities and a TV, and reception lent us a hair dryer and iron. We felt a little cold at night when the heating was off, so we asked for a small radiator. Getting into central London took longer than the hotel being just 20 minutes away might suggest: the bus stop is two minutes from the hotel, and bus 43 takes about 80 minutes to London Bridge. Getting off at Highgate underground station gets you to zone 1 in around 30-40 minutes. We got everything we'd paid for and more. Staying at the National Hotel was well worth the money, and I'd highly recommend it.
