There was no hot water, so I couldn't shower, and the heater didn't work either. I was cold all night, sitting in my coat, and now I'm sick. The place also felt dirty and unsafe, with nobody in the building. Yesterday my room lock jammed and kept me trapped inside for an hour. I had a panic attack, and the window wouldn't open either. I eventually forced the lock. Please cancel my reservation.
Thanks for the opportunity. We couldn't find the entrance even though we were at the right address, and spent 30 minutes looking. Eventually we spotted a small paper sign. The main pub entrance was under renovation, which seems to explain it. The room was much smaller than it looked in the photos. There were only two sockets, plus two more near the ceiling.
The place now goes by KING CROSS COLLECTIVE BY AURA STAYS. I booked through the Agoda app, and the listing photos were very misleading. It was hard to find, and the building looked abandoned, as if it were waiting to be demolished. Inside was very dirty, with awful facilities that weren't fit for purpose, and no staff on site. My room was freezing because the radiator/heater didn't work. There was no hot water at the faucet/tap or shower, and the small fridge and microwave were broken. There wasn't a table or chair, or any hooks for clothes or wet towels. The sink was tiny and tucked into the toilet's corner. They gave me a contact number, but the owner refused to answer calls and insisted on messaging on WhatsApp. It kept ignoring both calls and messages. On day 2 it replied that its “team” would come fix the boiler and check the room's radiator/heater. Nobody came. It lied. Spending two nights and days in that freezing room was torture. I booked a hotel to move elsewhere, then messaged the owner, who ignored me again, and Agoda to ask for a refund. The owner only replied after Agoda confronted it. I had booked four days in that awful place and got only two days refunded. Avoid it at all costs.
There was no reception, and they hadn't sent us the door codes before we arrived. The house is a ruin, the pub isn't operating, and the website claims are fraudulent. The rooms were dirty and nothing like the modern ones shown online. They only serve cold water.
We were a family of five, staying in May 2025 after my husband booked through booking.com. The beds were nice, but that was about it. Finding the place was difficult, and when we got inside we were crammed into one tiny room, with hardly any space for our luggage and no table or chair. The carpet was dirty, and the room had ants and rats. We contacted the managers but got no help. A rat kept running around on the last night, so none of us could sleep and the kids were frightened. We asked for a bathroom mat or towel and extra toilet tissue, but nobody brought them. Around 4am on the second night, someone barged into our room, saying he worked for the landlord and didn't know it was occupied. He apologized, but we were still terrified. It was a horrific two nights with my family. I wouldn't recommend it.
