NX London Hostel

I left after the first night, even though I’d booked for around two weeks. The main reason was the area. It’s rough, with few food options, and not like shiny central London. It reminded me of a New York side street. It’s not close to the city centre, so getting there each day takes quite a long train ride if that’s where you’re going. I wouldn’t have booked if the website had shown or mentioned this. It was 90 degrees (F) during my stay. There’s no AC, which is typical in many places, but a pub is right outside. Because it was so hot, we had to leave the window open, and we were sweating while listening to people yelling outside until 3 am. The photos also haven’t been updated in a long time. If the other issues hadn’t happened, I might not have cared as much, but the bed was dirty and the kitchen was old. Nothing matched the pictures. Everyone I spoke to was very nice. My two roommates in the female room were respectful and quiet, and chatted with me a bit. Everyone was quite a bit older than me, and I’m 22, so keep that in mind if it matters to you.

I had a great night's sleep in a comfortable bed, and checkout at 11 am was handy. Check-in was easy, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the towel and breakfast were free. Very good value for money.

Such a great price, with lovely staff, good customer service, clean rooms and free breakfast. I literally have no complaints. The bad reviews on this post aren’t true whatsoever, and I’ll definitely be coming back to this hostel!

I called to check the check-in rules because I work for a London charity supporting women escaping domestic violence, and wanted to pay for a bed in a shared dorm for a client. The website showed plenty of space. The man who answered was aggressive and rude, cutting me off before I could explain and claiming they were full. He also said they had no private rooms, though I hadn't asked for one, and reminded me they were a private business. I've booked rooms there for women before without any trouble, so I don't understand the hostility. If they want paying guests to support their business, they should treat them decently. Very disappointed.
