OYO is a big con. I booked this hotel months ago for one night, but when I arrived yesterday it was closed. Someone there told me OYO had made an agreement with the local council more than a year earlier to house people. OYO never told me the hotel wasn't available, but they still took my money. That same morning I'd messaged to ask about checking in at 2 pm, and they replied that I could. I had to spend time finding another room and pay extra. OYO still hasn't responded to my messages, apart from sending a standard reply. Please refund my money.
There was human urine and feces all over the room. I reported it to the council and sent pictures, but they said they couldn't do anything because the hotel claimed the room hadn't been like that before. It clearly had. Clean sheets had been put on the bed, and you could see where I'd pulled one back and found feces underneath. I'm appalled that they tried to blame me. Stay far away if you can.
The bathroom was the worst part of one of the nastiest hotels I've stayed in. The sink was tiny, clogged, and moldy. I couldn't wash my hands for a few seconds without it overflowing. The shower wasn't clean either, and the curtain had holes. There was only an empty body wash bottle, with no shampoo or conditioner, so luckily we brought our own. The carpet was covered in stains and there were brown marks on the walls. I expected the basic necessities to work when I booked, but that clearly wasn't the case. I'd look for somewhere else.
We lasted just under two hours before checking out and booking the nearest premier inn. If I could give zero stars, I would. Don't be fooled by the photos. The room was so small I could take four steps from the bed to the door. The bathroom door coat hook and shower handle were loose, and the soap rack was rusty. There was no milk with the tea tray and just one coat hanger in the little cut-out wardrobe. The room looked neglected too, with wallpaper peeling in several places and bathroom ceiling paint coming off, probably because the extractor fan didn't work. The hygiene was the worst part. There was black mould under the bathroom mirror, grime on parts of the wall and skirting boards, and dust at the bottom of the mirror. The tea and coffee tray was dusty and had old wrappers on it. We found other people's clothing labels in the bedside cabinet, so it clearly hadn't been cleaned. There was even a nail on the carpet beside the bed. I've never had to leave accommodation this bad and try to find another place. Don't waste your time booking here.
The location and price are good, the room's a decent size, and it was mostly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Some wallpaper was peeling, the radiator was a bit rusty, door frames were dusty, and the mattress was hard. But this was about half the price of nearby hotels, so for what I paid, it offered more than I expected. If I'd paid double, this would be a two-star stay. I lost one star because the mattress was a little stiff, but I'd still recommend it.
