I messaged and called the number they provided, but heard nothing until 18:40, three hours and 40 minutes after the supposed check-in time. By then I’d missed the event I’d travelled to attend. The hotel also didn’t respond to Booking.com, even though that’s where I’d booked. I can’t say enough how strongly I’d advise against staying here. With no staff available to help, seven others and I were left confused on the doorstep in a complete mess. My early check-in request had been declined, so I was ready to arrive at 3 p.m., but no entry codes had been sent. More and more hopeful guests gathered outside in the same situation. Eventually a helpful housekeeper arrived and was left to handle it alone while trying to reach her manager. When the manager finally answered, she said we’d all have to pay again because their system was down and they couldn’t see our prepayments. My email confirming payment wasn’t enough; they wanted a second payment and said we’d have to request a refund for the first one later, since it wouldn’t happen automatically. I asked what someone should do if they didn’t have the money to pay twice. She replied, “oh you have no money,” and left it at that. She was rude on the phone, unapologetic, and seemed more interested in getting more money.

My self check-in booking was for 4th October to 6th October, but they never sent any check-in information. I spent hours on the phone and was repeatedly told it would arrive by email shortly. It never did. Four hours after check-in time, they finally said they couldn’t support my booking. They didn’t contact me first; I had to chase them while standing outside the property. No alternative arrangements were offered, and I barely got an apology. Poor communication made this the worst experience I’ve had. 0/5.

I’d paid for my stay in advance through Booking.com, but the gig I planned to attend in Tottenham was cancelled a couple of days before my trip because of the tube strikes. Once the new gig date was announced, I got in touch to ask if I could move my booking. Rooms were still available, and I knew the new date might cost more. I was happy to pay the difference, but they didn’t even give me the option to rebook and simply said no. I’ve lost a significant amount of money as a result. A more flexible, customer-friendly response would have made a real difference.

The worst part was being left in limbo less than two days before my friend and I were due to travel to London. I booked months ahead through Booking.com, and at 9:25pm on Wednesday, two days before Friday check-in, I got a message claiming they’d been trying to reach me all day. They hadn’t called or messaged. When I rang, I was told the hotel was overbooked and my reservation had been cancelled, with no earlier warning. The woman I spoke to was very rude and offered no help. She said Booking.com would refund me, but they had heard nothing from the hotel. A man at another listed number belittled and yelled at me, then told me to cancel through Booking.com myself to get my money sooner. Mine was a non-refundable booking. I called Booking.com that night and again the next day; they couldn’t reach the hotel, and the reservation still hadn’t been cancelled. Booking.com eventually cancelled it themselves. If I’d followed that man’s advice, I could have faced a £200 late fee because Paragraph Palmers Green hadn’t cancelled it as claimed. Booking through Booking.com was the only thing that saved me. The double booking turned out to be a blessing in disguise, especially after the reviews I saw before the stay. Absolutely disgraceful staff. Do not book.

The rooms were spotless, stylish and comfortable, and I was impressed by how much care had gone into the details. Staff greeted me warmly and were attentive throughout. The hotel has a welcoming, luxurious feel, with excellent amenities and a location that made exploring the area easy while still giving me a peaceful stay. I had a fantastic time at Paragraph Palmers Green and would happily return. Highly recommended for a high-quality hotel experience.
