Park Avenue Bayswater Inn Hyde Park

For the price, the service was good and the location very good. I had a lower-ground single room opposite the lift for two nights; one of those nights was in a room without windows. Breakfast was included and very good. No complaints, it was what I paid for.

The staff were polite and really helpful, and I’d stay here again if I came back to London. It’s a lovely, stylish and comfortable hotel, with the tube station very close and shops not far away. Breakfast costs extra, but I thought it was worth paying for.

The coffee at breakfast was awful. Surely it wouldn’t cost much to put something nicer in the machine. Aside from that, breakfast was more than OK, with plenty of choice. I’ve just come back from three nights at the Bayswater. It was a fantastic base for seeing London, and the rooms were clean. I didn’t run into the problems some other travellers mentioned. Calling it a four-star hotel might be pushing it, but compared with what I paid elsewhere, the value for money can’t be beaten. A very good stay.

The location was OK, about ten minutes from the tube and places to eat. But the room needed some TLC. There were hairs and toiletries left by previous guests, the shower door wouldn’t close properly, and the TV got only one channel. The room service QR code let me order food, but none of the other advertised options worked. I was ignored by staff while they looked for my booking, which turned out to have the names mixed up. Within half an hour of entering the room, someone came in to finish preparing it. Our room was opposite the lift and could use better soundproofing. Apparently this is a four-star hotel, but the stay was disappointing.
