This isn’t a hotel. There are 550 apartments in this building, and as a resident I’d rather the front desk staff didn’t try to memorize the faces of people staying here short term. If they don’t recognize you and you keep having to introduce yourself, that’s because this is not a hotel. Using AirBNB is fine, but don’t expect hotel service in my building. And please don’t leave garbage or recycling in the hall at the wrong times. Nobody’s job is to pick it up like room service, because this isn’t a hotel.

I was repeatedly profiled and stopped by different receptionists throughout my stay, even after introducing myself several times to the same people. When I raised the issue, my concerns were dismissed and I was barely heard. The reception staff were racist. If you’re a POC, I’d advise looking somewhere else for a short or long stay.

I deliver food for apps like UberEats and Deliveroo, and I regularly bring orders to Point West Apartments. Recently they introduced a sign-in system where drivers have to wait at reception and give the apartment door number and order numbers. I don’t know why they need that information. It’s a hassle when we’ve travelled a long way or have multiple orders and can’t spare time to sign in. I’ve delivered to more luxurious and expensive apartment blocks in London without this nonsense. You just go up and leave the food. This wastes time for us and for you. Sometimes three drivers are waiting to sign in. By the time I’ve waited and signed in, I could have taken the food upstairs and already left for my next delivery. It’s inefficient, boring and annoying when you come here often. They also tell us to remove our helmets and put them on a shelf. I’m here to drop off food, not because I’m a criminal, and taking off a helmet slows us down even more. Why not use that shelf for deliveries we can leave at reception for residents to collect? The apartments are like a maze, with about 100 rooms on each floor. Sometimes we’re carrying four bags of heavy groceries, so the whole process is really inconvenient. They never used to have this system, and I don’t know why it suddenly appeared. I’m also concerned about how they use all the data they’re collecting. Would you as a resident be comfortable with reception logging how many food orders you place and at what times, building some kind of digital footprint about you? Surely this goes against GDPR laws. Reception needs to sort this out.

My sister has lived on the penthouse level of the West tower for over a decade. The biggest inconvenience is having to change lifts at a particular floor to get to the elevator reserved for penthouse residents. It’s not much of a problem, except when she’s expecting large deliveries, which have to wait until off-peak traffic to reach her floor. There’s a gym and Sainsbury's just west of the building, with lots of takeaway shops nearby. We’re grateful we can’t hear the trains in the depot behind the building, though I can’t say what it’s like on the lower floors.

A great place to live, with 24-hour reception, a clean and tidy building, a gym and parking.
