Premier Inn London Beckton

We stayed over Christmas with the kids and found the hotel very comfortable. It’s conveniently placed: the bus station is a five-minute walk away, the DLR station is right behind the hotel, and ASDA superstore is within five minutes on foot. Getting to central London was easy. We didn’t try breakfast, though the menu looked tempting, and it was nice to see a limited breakfast menu was available on Christmas Day. The front desk staff were welcoming and always smiled. Check-in and checkout were smooth, and the room was tidied while we were out, with fresh towels and everything kept neat. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the extra bed helped a lot with the kids. The shower was excellent, with handheld and overhead options, strong water pressure, and controls that made adjusting the hot water easy. A very pleasant stay.

The rooms are perfectly fine, and the bar drinks are great. The food, though, has been awful. Last time I stayed, I tried the chicken tikka twist pizza and thought it was the most vile pizza I’d ever tasted. I assumed it was a one-off, but came back and had the smothered chicken with cheesy garlic bread. It was an abomination. The pictures can speak for themselves. If you stay here, the rooms are great, but bring your own food.

The location was nice, but parking cost far too much. I booked a family room for one night, and the sliding toilet door was old-fashioned, with its bottom edge running along the carpet. I found it hard to open, and I can only imagine how difficult it would be for children. I've stayed at several different Premier Inns, but this one was a nightmare. I hope they replace that door soon.

The location worked well for us, with a bus station nearby and the DLR about a two-minute walk away. There are shops and places to eat around, and the O2 is an easy trip, though that wasn't why we were staying. The room and everything I checked, including the sheets and towels, were spotless, probably the cleanest hotel I've stayed in. Best of all, the woman who helped us from the time we arrived until we left was incredibly friendly. I don't know her name, but her service made the stay even better. We were very comfortable, enjoyed the whole visit, and I'd happily recommend staying here.
