Premier Inn London City - Aldgate

Aldgate East station is only a three minute walk away, and the hotel itself was quiet. Our room was roomy, neat and clean, with a great rain shower over the bath. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, as I’d expect at a Premier Inn. Staff were kind and attentive, and both breakfast and dinner were good, with plenty at breakfast. It was a relaxing stay, even if I was there for work.

The room was spacious, but the windows don’t open and cleaning is only available on request. I understand the policy, though at over £200 a night I’d expect the bed made and bathroom cleaned each day. Breakfast had a decent choice of typical English food, but tables often stayed covered in dirty dishes after people left. The staff were friendly, though they weren’t really keeping on top of the cleanup. The location made getting around very easy, with the Underground and bus stops close by. I’d probably book again for that reason.

The breakfast team, Sandra and her colleagues, were lovely, chatty and efficient. On Friday morning the cooks couldn’t keep up with demand, though I can see it’s hard when everyone arrives at once. We were a group of ten, and chose the hotel because it was near where we needed to be. The rooms were clean and comfortable, as were the reception, bar and dining spaces. Danny at reception was fantastic: patient when the system wasn’t showing what he needed, and with all our questions. We had a laugh with him, and he gladly took photos of us dressed up for a posh do. We really enjoyed our stay, and the staff made it.

We chose this hotel because we needed to get to Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel the next morning. It’s about a 15 minute walk, which worked out really easily for us. Check-in was simple, and I liked the security features, including needing your room key to access your floor. It’s also very close to the city. I’d definitely stay here again.
