The rooms felt dated compared with other Premier Inns, and they’re small, with wafer-thin walls. I could hear everything in the neighbouring rooms. The staff were great and really helpful, and breakfast was good. The area is nice, with plenty of shops. The underground is a two-minute walk away, and central London is about 20 minutes by tube.

We’ve stayed here five times, and this was easily the worst visit. Room 409 was so small it felt like a cupboard, and it didn’t work at all for a couple. Maybe one person would find it less bad. The toilet wouldn’t flush properly, and when we told reception, they didn’t seem concerned and said all the rooms were the same. The sink tap also barely worked. The shower was okay, and at least the air con worked well. The lifts were unreliable too, so we usually had to take the stairs. Doing that in a heatwave wasn’t fun. The location is still brilliant, as always, and it was easy to get around and into the city centre. But the building seems neglected and in need of investment. I’m very disappointed and may rethink staying here again.

For the price, it’s hard to do much better in London. We’ve given up on Airbnbs for London after our last trip and switched to hotels. This place is in a great neighbourhood with schools, cafes and shops, and it’s a five-minute walk to the tube. The District Line gets you to most London sights in 20-30 minutes. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but they need updating and feel old-fashioned, especially the bathrooms. That’s our one complaint.

I’d give this hotel zero stars if I could. There’s been a rat infestation for months, mainly behind the hotel, in the car park and at the closed down pub next door, which is owned by the same person as the hotel. Rats are breeding at the back and climbing over the shed where the bedding is stored. They run around there, with up to 20 counted at a time. I stayed here before and found it comfortable and pleasant, but I’ll never come back or recommend it because management hasn’t dealt with the infestation. Staff take lunch and fag breaks where the rats are running around, clearly near the container at the back of the hotel. The hotel hasn’t responded to local residents about what it’s doing to resolve the problem, while places all around it are dealing with the infestation. Imagine eating breakfast there and sleeping on that bedding.

My high-floor room had a really impressive view. Watching the sunrise and sunset over the London skyline was lovely. The room itself was comfortable, but it had an older style and felt dated next to other Premier Inns. The AC/heater was a particular problem. I visited in mid-January, when it was -3°C outside, and even after running the heater at full power for hours, the room stayed very cold. It was a good stay overall, but renovations could improve the hotel easily.
