I stay at Premier Inns for work all the time, but this one was a serious letdown. We waited 50 minutes for the wrong food even though we were the only table. The curry was watery and bland with just four pieces of chicken, and the chicken skewer starter was deep-fried and bone dry. On Saturday night there was no one staffing the bar, so everyone had a long wait. The woman working was running around apologising every few minutes, and it was clear the one person in the kitchen was struggling. They offered a free drink for the wait and bad food, but we didn’t want another drink and asked them to remove the one we had from the bill. The manager, who had entered the wrong order, said that wasn’t possible. He didn’t come over to apologise, check the food, or explain the drink offer, leaving it all to the poor woman who kept apologising. We work for a large company with a Premier Inn account for over 150 employees. We definitely won’t recommend this one in our group chat. Going to bed hungry, roll on breakfast.
The restaurant staff were lovely, friendly, and polite, just as I’d expect from reception over Christmas and Boxing Day. My three-star rating is because of the attitude of someone I think was a manager, a woman with blonde or light brown hair wearing a suit. We stayed over the Christmas break. It’s Christmas, so at least be a bit cheerful, friendly, or crack a smile if you work in hospitality. I wished a member of the cleaning staff a happy Christmas when I bumped into her. She didn’t seem happy to be there or to clean the room.
Good food options and a very large supermarket are nearby. The restaurant was being renovated, but we didn’t hear any noise. They provided bananas and pastries for breakfast, and the coffee machine made good coffee, though it could get busy. Staying here was a good choice and cost less than most places. It’s within walking distance of the Elizabeth line, which made it easy to get into London. Given how huge London is, you’ll need the rail anyway, so we chose to stay further out and save money instead of paying much more to stay in the city. I still don’t understand how the bed sizes convert to American sizes. We booked a “king” and got two double beds pushed together. The nicer hotels have an actual American-sized king.
After driving all the way from Telford and arriving quite late, meeting Marius and Vanessa and being welcomed made us really happy. They were so friendly, warm, and helpful, and even sorted out the parking fee as a goodwill gesture because work was ongoing at the site and workers were taking up most of the spaces. That felt like a grand gesture, and we were touched. This was our second stay, and we’ll definitely come again. We’ll look forward to seeing them. The rooms were spotless, and the weekend rates were quite affordable. Possibly the best Premier Inn I’ve stayed in, maybe even six stars, since five doesn’t feel like enough. Highly recommend.
I didn’t stay at the hotel, so I can’t comment on it, but Vanessa at reception was lovely and incredibly helpful. I’d gone to the wrong Premier Inn, and even though she was clearly busy, she took the time to order me a taxi and get me to the right place. Thanks so much, Vanessa!
