Premier Inn London Southwark Tate Modern

We slept really well for both nights, thanks to a great bed and a lovely, clean room. The food was excellent value with the meal deal included, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Great location too. Premier Inn gives you good quality for a sensible price.

Southwark station is close by, about a five-minute walk, and the location worked really well for exploring London. We stayed three nights. The room was fine, but the bathroom wasn’t: the shower temperature was hard to adjust and its head couldn’t be set at different heights. There was also an unpleasant smell in the bathroom, though I’m not sure where it came from.

Everyone made us feel welcome, from the front of house team to the kitchen staff. We were greeted warmly and offered help as soon as we walked in, and the kitchen team were friendly at breakfast too. People smiled and were lovely throughout. We’ve stayed at plenty of Premier Inns, but this one really stands out for how friendly the staff are.

For £150 a night, I was very disappointed. The booking process never said that some rooms face the train tracks, and the noise was impossible to ignore. It had a real impact on the stay. I asked reception about it and was politely told trains stop around 12:30am and start again at 5:30am. That doesn’t help much when you’re hoping for a full night’s sleep. The hotel doesn’t provide earplugs either, which might at least have helped with a problem that hadn’t been disclosed.
