I was nervous because this was my first hostel, and I worried that having a pub there would mean lots of noise. It was such a nice surprise to find everyone quiet, friendly, and welcoming, and I felt very safe. The place is cosy and warm, the people in the pub were lovely, and all the staff were as sweet as Mark, the manager. He was especially kind. I loved it so much I’d stay there my whole life if I could, but I had to leave because of the two-week policy. I can’t stay at the hostel again for six months, but I’ll still come by for a pint and to see my good friends. Honestly, the best hostel ever!

The pub downstairs was handy for a meal, or even just getting some water late at night, and there are plenty of bus and tube stations close by. I spent 10 nights here, my first time in a hostel, and had a great experience for the price. The staff were so kind and lovely. I was in a 12-person dorm, so some noise from other guests and people leaving their things in the bathroom were the usual shared-room downsides, but nothing that put me off.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and made check-in and check-out easy. Downstairs, the pub gives the place a lively, social feel, though evenings can be noisy, and light sleepers may want earplugs. There’s also the occasional snoring guest. The location is the main draw: the White Ferry House hostel is in Westminster, within walking distance of Buckingham Palace and not far from Big Ben. There are transport links nearby too, although we walked everywhere and found getting around London easy. It’s a basic hostel, but comfortable and good value for the location. Our room was clean and the beds were decent for a short stay. The shared bathrooms were well kept, with a shower, toilet, sink, and mirror in each cubicle, so it felt like having your own space. It’s not luxury accommodation, but it’s a good affordable choice if location, value, and a social atmosphere matter most.

Just stopped by for a quick drink. The welcome was genuinely warm, and the beer was great. It’s an authentic, historic pub, one of the few still around, really. The bartender was originally from the States. What’s not to like?

The open cafe/bar is available all night, which is a great touch. This was my first hostel stay, and it was everything I hoped for. Mark, who runs PubLove, is a delight and makes the place feel so welcoming. I met lovely people while I was there and will definitely come back.
