Putney Hotel

I came back after a day out and found the balcony door open and my belongings rearranged. I’d had the do not disturb sign up, and neither the bed nor the linens had been touched. I’d never opened the balcony door, so the explanation that housekeeping or the wind had done it made no sense to me. The staff dismissed my concerns and raised his voice when I asked for a checkout receipt. It took hours of arguing before they finally gave me confirmation that I’d checked out, and they still refused a refund. We also tried three rooms because the safes didn’t work, and the rooms were unhygienic. What was meant to be a relaxing stay turned into a nightmare. A horrible, inhumane business. Stay away.

The staff were great, but the hotel wasn’t worth the money. Our first room had a lot of black mould and the shower flooded. They said the hotel was full, and since we’d only arrived at night, we had no choice but to stay. After they moved us to a second room, we found a towel with blood stains.

I booked a room through DayUse for a few hours and had already paid, but the manager asked me to pay again when I arrived. She said the hotel hadn’t received the payment, then told me to contact them on Monday about getting my money back. I called on Tuesday and was told they couldn’t do anything. The manager was happy to charge me twice over their own or DayUse’s mistake, but wouldn’t apologize or offer a solution. The hotel is run down and the staff were rude.

Breakfast had plenty of variety and was delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. The location made it easy to reach transport and attractions. Our room was clean, the atmosphere welcoming, and the service excellent. Comfortable and enjoyable for business or leisure. Highly recommend.
