Rose Court Hotel

For one night in central London, this did the job. It was easily the cheapest hotel option I found, and having my own bedroom and bathroom at this price felt like a bargain. Most hostels charge about the same for a bed in an 18-person dorm. It’s definitely not fancy, but if you just need somewhere to sleep, it worked perfectly for me. I couldn’t find anything comparable within three miles. Don’t let the reviews put you off if that’s all you need.

I don’t really get the complaints. It’s good value for the location, and my small room was very clean. I only needed somewhere to sleep and leave the things I’d bought, so the size suited me. The mattress seemed new and was comfortable, and the sheets were spotless. I struggled with the hot water for a couple of minutes, then figured it out, or you could just ask someone. The staff were kind to me, and I’d stay again.

I hardly ever review places, but I feel I should warn people. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve had, and my partner and I left early because we didn’t feel safe or comfortable. Our first room had clearly been used: the bed was messy, the pillow stained, and there were used condoms in the bin. We asked to change rooms, but the next one was just as bad. The bathroom door had no knob, there was no hot or even lukewarm water, the tap was broken, and the curtains were filthy. The staff didn’t seem surprised or especially apologetic, which made it feel like this had happened before. I’d avoid this place.

A very disappointing stay. The room was extremely dirty and poorly maintained, and it wasn’t worth the money. If you book a double, be prepared to get a single bed. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
