Sheriff Hotel

For a layover in London, I just needed somewhere to keep my things and sleep, and this did the job. It’s a very small room, though it has the basics: a comfortable bed, decent shower, TV, hairdryer, and kettle with free tea and coffee. The fan remote was broken, the toilet seat felt a bit loose, and I could hear people next door. Those things didn’t bother me much. Good enough for a short stay.

The location was handy, about a five minute walk from Victoria, and for under £50 a night I thought this budget hotel was better than expected. I was put in room 16 in the hotel next door, on the top floor, so there were lots of stairs, but that was fine for me. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it had tea and coffee, a TV, and a hairdryer. The shower was fantastic, hot and powerful. I heard a little outside noise, but it didn’t wake me. There are minor things I could pick at, but none affected my stay, so I’ll leave it there. I’d definitely come back.

I spent the whole night awake and regretted paying for the room. Someone on the top floor kept making loud noises and walking around their room all night. I went down and knocked on the reception door, but nobody answered. It seemed like reception had left customers on their own overnight, and I felt scared. The only reason I booked here was [truncated]. This was my worst hotel experience anywhere in the world. You can do better.

You can hear guests in the other rooms, and the bathroom upstairs leaked through the ceiling. The room itself was tiny. The safe didn’t work, and the bed kept rolling around because it had no stoppers.
