Signature Hotel London

We barely slept because noisy neighbours kept us awake, even after we called reception twice. That came on top of a room that looked as if it hadn’t been checked or cleaned properly: stained bedding, a mouldy pillowcase, dust and grime, marks across the walls, and bedside lamps without bulbs. We only stayed the first night because it was after midnight and nowhere else was available then. By morning we’d lost confidence in the hotel and moved elsewhere for the rest of our stay. Offering to change rooms afterward doesn’t make the original room’s condition acceptable. For what we paid, this was well below basic hotel standards. One of our worst hotel stays, and we wouldn’t recommend it.

It’s a 30-minute underground ride from the centre, so getting around is convenient. The room is about what you’d expect for the price, and the bed was comfortable, though don’t expect five-star cleanliness. The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially Fahid, who checked us in.

Getting around was easy: there’s no parking, but the station is a three-minute walk away and there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel has a lift, and the room was quite spacious with enough room for our belongings. It was okay overall, around a 3 out of 5. The bathroom looked a little old but seemed fine to me, and it had a bathtub that wasn’t mentioned in the booking. The bed was large enough for two and soft, although the bedding didn’t feel especially soft or good quality. A couple of things let it down. There were two of us but only one set of towels, and the room took a long time to warm up, so it felt cold when I arrived.

A good deal, especially for a last-minute booking. The hotel was clean and easy to get around, the service was excellent, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby.
