Sonder St. John's Garden

Room 1 had a great location, but the kitchen floor felt greasy, the fridge was noisy, and the sink tap was almost falling off. The bathroom was awful, and the shower had poor water flow. The place also smelled strongly of the kebab shop downstairs. The TV wasn't connected to any terrestrial channels. I won't be rushing to book it again unless I'm desperate.

I chose this place for a longer stay because it had a kitchenette, but it was a letdown. There's no elevator, and they put me on the top floor with heavy luggage. The building looked run down, and the room had no soundproofing. I usually love Sonder over traditional hotels, but this place sucks. I definitely won't stay at this location again.

The room I got was far smaller than the one my colleague had, and it was right over a kebab shop extractor fan, so I couldn't open the window. There were no knives, no hot water, and no way to make coffee in the kitchen. There wasn't even a table or chair to eat at. I had to cancel, get a refund, and move elsewhere. Some rooms may be okay depending on the side, but with the chance of ending up in a room like mine, I wouldn't book this place.

I was told someone would meet me and help with my bags because my room was on the 4th floor, but nobody showed up when I arrived on time. I had a lot of luggage for fashion week. The driveway was dark and cobbled, making it hard to roll bags, and the narrow, steep, awkward stairs felt dangerous while carrying heavy things. None of that was shown in the photos, and the whole place felt unsafe. I only learned on arrival day that there was no elevator or lobby. It was mentioned on the site, but buried in the fine print about three-quarters down the page. When I called customer service again, they said they were “sending someone” but couldn't say how long it would take. I asked for a manager to call because I needed to cancel, and nobody ever did. I walked around the corner and checked into the Yotel, which was fantastic, easy, and comfortable. This place is basically an expensive hostel. I'm still waiting to hear from customer service, and it felt like a scam.
