The buildings look beautiful and stylish, but I wouldn’t recommend renting or buying there. The communal systems, including the heating, are past their useful life and keep failing. We had no heat for much of the winter. Insulation is poor too, especially in the upper flats, which get unbearably hot in summer. Fire safety rules aren’t being met, and it seems the freeholder company struggles to get things done.
I visited a friend who has rented here for nearly ten years. She’s a single woman and feels completely safe. The old Hartley Jam Factory buildings have been nicely renovated, and the doormen are friendly and very helpful.
The concierge at the entrance is a good feature, and I like the security around here. These former factory buildings have been turned into very modern apartments, some owned outright and others rented from landlords. The homes are decent quality, though a few areas feel a bit dingy. It’s close to the high street, with Tesco and Sainsbury not far away, and Tower Bridge is only about a ten-minute walk. It could be a good place to stay if you get a good price, though I doubt that’s possible in the current housing climate. Be careful. Parking isn’t great either, and I can imagine deliveries being difficult.
I did some work in this block. Great place, with lovely people and a secure, friendly concierge.
Very clean apartment, and it feels really secure. The location is good too, with pubs and shops only a few minutes away.
