Sydney House Chelsea

Breakfast was delicious and really good quality, and the staff were polite and friendly. The rooms are a good size, with a big, comfortable bed, and the hotel is in a nice, quiet neighbourhood with an excellent location. We had a lovely stay and I'd book again. There was a noise from the terrace, a bit like a loud fridge. I feel I should mention it, though it didn't disturb our sleep or bother us.

The location is the main plus. You're away from the artificial tourist crowds but close to buses and the metro, which get you to the center in 10-15 minutes. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and the rooms and cleaning were decent enough.

Mariam and Sajia were especially sweet, and I really connected with them. They helped make our stay feel special. My family and I spent a few days here, and the staff were so comfortable and friendly, making us feel at home and helping with every little thing. The location is excellent and the staff are friendly, but the hotel needs major renovation and the cleaning standards need to improve a lot for the price. The staff didn't stand up to greet us when we came in, which didn't feel like a professional hotel greeting. We stayed for seven nights at first, went to Europe, then came back for six more. In the first room, which was very small, there was a sticky coffee-like stain on the laminate floor beside the bed that remained the whole time. The floor was never vacuumed, the room was very dusty, the walls and skirting boards needed a thorough clean, and there were cobwebs behind the bathroom door. The shower over the bath didn't work properly, nor did the heated towel rail or the room radiator. Noise from guests walking around upstairs was loud enough to wake me several times. Our second room was larger and carpeted, but the carpet was filthy and badly needed cleaning or replacement. There was no mattress protector on the bed, which I think is essential when many people use the bed. Two of the four pillows had protectors, but they were stained. The shower cubicle was tiny, with nowhere to put shampoo except on the floor, and its door wouldn't close fully, leaving a puddle in the bathroom. One blind was faulty. Daily service in both rooms meant fresh towels, emptied bins, a made bed, toilet paper, and bottled water, but no fresh sheets. Once, the bed wasn't made at all. One day when we entered the hotel, there was a strong smell of marijuana. The receptionist also smelled strongly of it and seemed to be under the influence.
