The Bank Hotel

The bathroom was dirty, with a broken toilet seat and a dirty shower and sink. The huge, filthy pillows left my neck sore for a few days, and there were gaps in the fire door big enough to see into the passage. I can't believe I paid to sleep there. It felt like a hostel, not a hotel. Either they don't care, or they've never been anywhere near a hotel.

The location near the shops was a plus, and the rooms were decent for a three-star hotel, though I expected a proper cupboard instead of a wooden box with a hanger above the bedside. The showers were covered in limescale, didn't work properly, and flooded the room. No staff were around when we needed help, so we waited 10 minutes for someone to come. There are plenty of better hotels nearby, though there could be worse ones too.

The parking was a nightmare to find and cost extra. We were quoted £19 but charged £10, which was a nice surprise, though the staff seemed unsure what to do and the payment went to a different account from the hotel's. The place felt a bit ropey, including the outside area, and the rooms weren't very clean. Staff were okay, but wanted cash for everything. They took a deposit up front, then refunded it without even checking the room, which seemed very odd. Unfortunately, I wouldn't stay here again.

It was clean and basic, and did the job for a one-night stay. I found it not as bad as the reviews made it sound.
