The Clarendon Hotel - Blackheath

Blackheath would lose a real gem if the rumours about turning this hotel into flats came true. Its location is amazing, and it’s a shame to think it might go. I’ve stayed several times over the past couple of months, and every room has been immaculate and really comfortable. The food is incredible too. The staff have all been so lovely and helpful, making our stays comfortable. Thank you to every one of them.

The restaurants were nice and the food was great. We were in town for the London to Paris Ride in 24 hrs, and the hotel was central to what we needed. Create, inc. gave the kids an amazing experience, and the hotel helped make the trip fantastic. My room was quaint, clean, and had basic amenities. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were great.

The breakfast was delicious, with an excellent range of food, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. I stayed one night in an adequate twin room with tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was compact, with a shower over the bath. It was very warm in the room even with the window open and fan running.

Blackheath is a beautiful area with plenty of bars and restaurants, and the location is excellent, with the tube nearby. The breakfast was good, though nothing exceptional, which probably sums up the stay. The staff were pleasant, and the beds were comfortable, but there’s no air conditioning. In the middle of a heatwave the room was extremely warm, and the wall fan just moved hot air around. They also charged £2.50 for an emergency toothbrush, which felt harsh when many places provide one free. I booked because the hotel advertised parking, even though it meant driving 40 minutes away from where I needed to be. There are very few spaces for a hotel this size. I know it says first come, first served, but that makes it hard to plan. I waited an hour and saw plenty of other guests doing the same. If you need parking, don’t count on getting a spot, so this probably isn’t the place for you.
